Description
Neuraltus is seeking a qualified candidate to be responsible for all financial and fiscal management aspects of company operations. The position requires a tactical/hands on person to manage and be responsible for the corporate accounting activities (accounts payable, payroll processing, general ledger posting and reconciliations, and fixed assets tracking), financial reporting, cash management, budgeting, stock options and accounting controls.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, improve and monitor the system of internal controls, accounting and corporate policies and procedures
- Generate timely monthly and year-end financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
- Generate monthly management and investor reports
- Perform ad-hoc financial and business analyses as required
- Manage the annual external audits
- Manage budgeting, cash reporting, and cash flow projections as needed
- Manage budgeting tasks including the annual budgeting process and mid-year forecasts
- Assist executive team with long term planning
- Manage insurance issues and tax issues. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements
- Manage personnel over time (accounting, front office, and/or HR)
- Take on other duties as assigned
Knowledge and Skills
Requirements
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, contracting, negotiating, budgeting, and cost control principles including GAAP
- Experience with complex GAAP requirements including equity and stock option issues
- Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems
- Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
- Clinical trial accounting
- Stock option accounting and stock records management
- SOX compliance and/or Internal Controls & Procedures documentation and management experience
- Collaboration accounting and associated revenue recognition issues
- Cash management and basic treasury functions including cash flow projections
- Experience implementing an accounting system
- Proficient with QuickBooks, eProsper/CapMx, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience with tax and tax accounting
- Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Capacity to listen well
- Ability to motivate teams to produce quality results within tight timeframes
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings
- Experience in supervising accounting, office management and/or HR personnel.

Background, Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred)
- A minimum of 10 years experience in small and large companies.
- Some experience in Biotech/Drug Development companies
- Two to five years of public accounting experience
- Three years experience as a supervisor or manager
Working Environment
- Conditions are normal for an office environment
- Occasional weekend and/or evening work required around key events like Board Meetings, Audits, Financings, etc.
- Candidate should be easy to work with, self-aware and have a sense of humor
